View Mosaic, The Blencathra Centre, Keswick

Commissioned for The Blencathra Centre, Keswick, Cumbria, and designed and constructed by the children of nearby Threlkeld Primary School. Made of unglazed ceramic tiles, the mosaic is rainbow shaped and covers eighteen square metres. The theme focuses on the local environment, and the design forms an illustrated chart of the stunning view from the site. After workshops in classroom involving discussion of local issues, research of local history using relatives, poetry writing, and lots of drawing, the children constructed the mosaic in the classroom. It was later installed on site, and officially opened by H.R.H. Prince Charles on his visit to the Blencathra Centre.
